Freeland Systems DICOM Server (DS) is a fully functional DICOM archive solution that provides quick access to current patient records.

Freeland Systems DICOM server utilizes a unique network architecture that allows for the consolidation of numerous servers into one, easy to support, multi-functional server. Storage may be configured as needed and one program can store any diagnostic study including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, nuclear and/or X-ray into individual storage resources.

Use Freeland Systems DICOM Server to store to a local data store or configure for use with network or removable storage. Combine with AccessPoint Secure Web Delivery to allow external users secure archive access.

Near-Line storage provides temporary on-line storage of current patient records.  It provides HIPAA compliant access to patient data for review from any computer, laptop, Apple Mac, etc. at any time from anyplace with internet access.

  • Eliminates the need to download medical records for out of office review and the potential liability associated with loosing patient records downloaded on lap-tops, note-books and/or I-Pads.
  • Avoids the HIPAA non-compliant activity of downloading patient data onto the hard drive of a non-protected computer.

SQL Back-end support:  AccessPoint DICOM Server now supports Microsoft SQL as its index provider.  SQL dramatically improves storage and retrieval speeds, and also allows for a greater number of records to be stored in a single data source.

Promiscuous DICOM Server:  Our DICOM Server supports a native promiscuous DIOCM server mode.  Bypassing specific DICOM workstation-related configuration helps the administrator simplify network configurations when transferring to the Freeland DICOM Server.

Supports server duplexing:  With AccessPoint Dicom Service, you may add and configure multiple DICOM servers running as a single service.  This functionality allows an administrator to configure multiple medical devices to send to a single server, but be processed and stored to separate indexes.  AccessPoint DS Duplexing is perfect for labs that want to process and separate multiple modalities without dedicating a new server for each

Measurement Scanning:  AccessPoint DICOM Service leverages Freeland’s Screen Reader technology to allow the instant scanning and indexing of raw measurement values.  With this function, upon store, measurement values are instantly read from report screens and placed in a SQL database.

DICOM Store and Forward:  Certain workflows consist of one or more PACS environments.  In these cases AccessPoint DS supports Store and Forward.  Using the Store and Forward configuration, an administrator has the power to store a local copy of an image or study, and then automatically forward a copy to another PACS or DICOM compliant server.

Greater control over secure access:  Specific SQL roles grant an administrator the power to grant or deny access to studies based on Windows credentials.

Q. What versions of SQL are supported?  
A. SQL 2000 or higher.  Note: SQL Express versions are acceptable.

Q. How does server duplexing work; what are the benefits?
A. Server duplexing allows for more than one DICOM Server instance to be configured to run on on server (under one service).  Put simply, this feature allows you to setup multiple DICOM servers on a single PC.

Duplexing is of particular use for larger hospitals or clinics that have multiple labs or departments that require separate archives.  Don’t spend money on extra PCs.  Don’t install service on multiple, hard to catalog PCs.  With a small amount of administrative effort, create rules on one PC for each entity requiring a separate archive.

Q. How do AccessPoint DICOM Server and AccessPoint WEB Viewer differ?
A. While it is true the AccessPoint WEB may be used as a DICOM Server, it is not nearly as functional as AccessPoint DS.  [insert link to product comparison]

Q. Can AccessPoint DS be used to store to removable media or network attached storage?  
A. Absolutely, yes.

Q. Must AccessPoint DS be installed on a server class system?  
A. Short answer – no. Long answer – as with any mission-critical environment, steps should be taken to ensure its long-term viability.  For storage, we recommend any device that supports redundant disks.  Steps should be taken to ensure that the system running AccessPoint DS, is always available for medical devices to store to it.

Q. Does AccessPoint Dicom Server require that a user remain logged on to function?  
A. No.  AccessPoint DS runs as a service.  Therefore, as long as the system is powered on and on the network, it will process data.

Q. Does the server accept other non-Freeland DICOM clients?  
A. Yes.  The Server supports DICOM Query Retireve.  As long as the client is DICOM-compatible, administrators may configure them for use with the AccessPoint Dicom Server.
